Counseling for Adults (Age 18+)

Mary Bergeron, Counselor Therapist

Mary values authentic relationships with her clients and prioritizes creating a space where clients can feel seen, respected, and encouraged. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is where client growth begins. Mary approaches counseling with an attitude of warmth, humility, curiosity, and humor. She believes that counseling is a collaborative experience and that the client is the expert of their life.

Mary sees individuals (18+) and some areas of interest for her are grief and loss, identity exploration, building self-esteem, navigating life changes, relational and family of origin concerns, and trauma processing. She hopes for every client to embody a sense of meaning and connection. Mary also loves to help clients who are looking for help managing anxiety and depression.

Mary’s therapeutic approach is influenced by Existential and Constructivist theories, which emphasizes values work, responsibility, and meaning-making. Through introspective dialogue and reflection, Mary strives to empower individuals to embrace their agency and create meaningful narratives that embrace their authentic selves and values. She sees therapeutic work as a transformative journey in which she and her clients embark together toward self-awareness, safety, and freedom. Above all, Mary’s work centers on a multicultural and social justice orientation, which means that dialogue will naturally include the client’s cultural identities and social locations as well as the broader contexts of their unique lived experience.

Outside of counseling, Mary usually organizes her schedule to maximize her time spent in the sun. She enjoys biking, skiing, and swimming. She is usually followed everywhere by her Cocker Spaniel, Heidi. She will never pass up a good meal with loved ones or a good concert. Mary is continually in awe of nature and tends to use her free time basking in what nature has to offer.
